Thao Nguyen

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

I had the chance to see Thao sans The Get Down Stay Down at the Vera Project.  She maintains the same voice and same lyrical style but just more mellow.  Despite the fact that the band that opened for her were pounding on drums screaming wearing spandex suits…Thao kept her impressive style.

Watch It Sparkle, West Coast Tour 2010

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

I had the chance to ride from Seattle to Portland with Watch It Sparkle for the start of their 2010 west coast tour.  What I was hoping to do was to ride along with them and not capture the band on tour as much as some of the details of Touring.

It didn’t go as well as I planned–That is a good thing.

The van only had 15 miles on it when we picked up so no flat tires…

Everyone got along well…

Justin kept his pants on…

Starr was excited to be playing with PeeLander Z

Steb was keeping his eyes on the road for any sign of Sasquatch

And I was counting volcanoes

It wasn’t that I didn’t get some good shots.  Some of the live shots are really nice.  The venue was Kelly’s Olympian in Portland, Oregon.  A cool place filled with vintage motorcycles on one side and a decent little stage on the other.  Never mind the fact their drinks are good too.

It would have been great to continue on with them but Hood River was waiting for me.  One thing I did learn on my short little trip is to sit behind the driver.

Stay tuned for a full set of images in the coming days.

The Grates Part II

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Sorry for the slacking off a bit. But, here are the film images from the Sunset Tavern in Seattle featuring The Grates. They are an amazing little band out of Oz and are well worth a listen and better yet if they are ever in your part of the world go see them. Plus, they seem to know where the best food is in every part of the world.

The Grates

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

The other night The Grates came through Seattle and I was fortunate enough to shoot this amazing three piece from Brisbane Australia.

When they aren’t eating their way across America or enjoying their guilty pleasure of watching local TV ads they are throwing down some great music. Here are just a couple shots that I took with more to come when my film gets processed.

As always I shot my F5 and Fuji Neopan 1600 rated to 3200. The venue was the Sunset Tavern which is not the best for lighting but is a fun place to see and hear some live music.

The Camellias

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Here are a few shots of the Camellias from the High Dive in Seattle. They are a great band it if you ever get the chance. I liked these shots because they show off Scott’s shoes.

Plus, I still think the high contrast of Fuji NeoPan 1600 is amazing.
