The Parlotones

The South African Band The Parlotones made swing through Seattle and was lucky enough to some shots of them. Unfortunately their venue wasn’t the best giant pole in middle of stage. Be sure to check out the photos took of prior tours.

You can see two sets of shots their High Dive Set #1 and Set #2 in Seattle from a year ago. And photo set for The Showbox Sodo and interview with singer Kahn Morbee on Flotzam.com.

Portraits: Wesley Scott aka The Passive Disaster

I tend to post a lot of live photos so I thought since I am reaching back in to the archives I may throw up some portraits. These were done as PR shots and were a blast to do. Having some nice summer evening light doesn’t hurt in a few of them either. Plus, a little Fujichrome goes a long way too. One thing that is great about portraits for musicians is they rarely are boring.

Rodrigo y Gabriela

A couple years ago I had the chance to shoot Rodrigo y Gabriela at Marymoor park. Prior to shooting them I had never heard their music or knew their story. An acoustic guitar duo that can just flat out rock is rare. After seeing them I will say that I’m sold as a fan. They have an intensity in their eyes that is amazing and their hands flew over their guitars appearing to hardly move yet enormous sounds come out.

After hearing a story about their new album Area 52 on NPR I had to go back to the archives and share some photos. I can’t wait to have the opportunity to shoot them again.

Watch It Sparkle at Hollow Earth Radio

Watch It Sparkle played a live In-Studio at Hollow Earth Radio an internet radio station based in Seattle. It was a low key event that was a few sets of live music followed by a few songs by artists the band like and then some chit-chat. It was good. Hollow Earth is a small and funky studio space but it has all the making of a real radio station. The lack of good chairs, microphones that may or may not work and only one set of cans (headphones) that work.

Lets hope that Hollow Earth Radio can grow and here is to Watch It Sparkle. If you have a chance to see them play in the Seattle/Portland corridor do it.

Mistress and the Misters

A band out of Spokane called Mistress and the Misters played the Funhouse in Seattle years ago. I was going my archives and thought they would be worth putting up. They have since broken up but that is only to be expected in the world of Indie-Rock. They had some great outfits and a stage presence that was well worth seeing.

Enjoy.
